Who I can Help
I work inclusively and welcome those from cross-cultural and LGBTQ communities.
I can help a person experiencing acute psychological distress as per the descriptor under ‘what is a mental health crisis?’
As a non clinical practitioner, I DO NOT DIAGNOSE, TREAT OR PRESCRIBE.
Subsequently, during peak-crisis I can not work with a person experiencing:
Attempted suicide and/or recent self-harm ( ligature, cutting, ingesting for example)
Substance misuse and/or intoxication
Delusions and/or hallucinations
Confusions (not oriented to time, place or others)
High risk of harm to self and/or others `
**IMMEDIATE clinical care and intervention MUST be sought to safely help a highly vulnerable person**
I am open to collaborative working with clinical partners should a person be receiving ongoing treatment for long-term mental and/or physical health conditions.
As a person-centred practitioner - I follow the Wellness Model of approach that inspires a process that gets you to be the very best you can be, as opposed to the Clinical Model which aims to only pathologise and medicate. The two are not mutually exclusive and are better to be clarified when seeking the right person to work with and support you.
